Wasserman Schultz Urged To Testify On Imran Awan
Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is being cornered from every side in order to justify her decision to kept an IT associate on the payroll for months after a criminal probe was discovered, confronted with requests from Republicans to testify, as well as a recently issued ethics complaint.
Tthe Florida congresswoman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who wa sin charge of the Democratic National Committee until a year ago, ended Imran Awan’s “part-time” employment this past week, when he was imprisoned at Dulles International Airport attempting to elope to Pakistan. He was accused of bank fraud.
However, he and other previous IT staffers for House Democrats have been on the radar of investigators for months as a result of concerns regarding potential double-billing, supposed equipment theft and clearance to top secret computer systems. The majority of lawmakers ousted Awan in March, however Schultz held on to him, although he was banned from the House IT network.
“I think she should testify,” Ronna McDaniel, the Republican Party Chairwoman, said to Dana Loesch , aconservative radio host on Monday. “If I had a staff member, an IT staff member, who had access to all of our data and all of our infrastructure and he had come under investigation … you better believe I would be cooperating.”
Even though, at this point, no such hearing has been officially called, Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., also provided support on Monday for Schultz testifying.
“We have to investigate how our systems may have been compromised, and that may involve putting people in the [witness] chair,” he informed“Fox & Friends.”
‘There is something quite amiss as to why Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz continued to use taxpayer funds to employ former technology staff member, Imran Awan, even months after he was barred from accessing the House’s computer systems …’
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders stated a week ago “there should be a thorough investigation” on the matter.
